ART announces new technology which allows large area tracking of HMDs in real-time
Weilheim i. OB, Germany – Optical Tracking specialist Advanced Realtime Tracking (ART) has again merged advantages of different tracking methods in order to achieve high-quality results.
The use of HMDs (“Head-Mounted-Displays”) for immersive Virtual Reality experiences has become more and more popular in recent years, especially for the gaming industry.
However, in ART’s primary markets of industrial and research applications the user expects and demands higher quality and reliable systems in order to use the results for demanding design and production processes.
To keep pace with the evolving needs of customers, ART as the known specialist for optical tracking solutions has now successfully included the advantages of inertial technologies by using a technique known as “sensor fusion”, dedicated for special applications (e.g. HMDs).
The resulting “ART Hybrid Tracking” provides significant benefits over single source tracking:
